Integrated Life: The Road to Sustainable Living
Living sustainably means radically redesigning the way we live on this planet. It means changing our modes of consumption, redefining our relationship to the earth, and reshaping our idea of community. While this may seem daunting, living sustainably doesn’t mean sacrificing your well-being. In fact, sustainable living is not only good for the planet, but it’s something that can greatly improve individual health, well-being, and quality of life.
Integrated Life is a consciously designed community that aims to do just this. Through a holistically developed design, Integrated Life provides opportunities for people seeking to live more in tune with the planet and their community.
The ultimate goal of Integrated Life is to design a self-sufficient community that lives in harmony with nature. We will have state-of-the-art regenerative agriculture for growing our own food and livestock, sustainable forestry practices for building materials, and our own waste treatment systems. Integrated Life will also feature all the most advanced ecological technologies like renewable energy, biogas, rainwater harvesting, and more. Each of these systems will be run by experts in the field with assistance from capable community members.
Integrated Life ultimately seeks to provide community members with an option to lower their carbon footprints when compared to conventional lifestyles. Our community will provide all the tools necessary to achieve a low-carbon lifestyle with many other benefits of community living. Through our community design, we hope to make the sustainable lifestyle not require anyone to make unwanted sacrifices, but instead offer an exciting and enjoyable new opportunity.
Along with being environmentally friendly, Integrated Life also places community as a top priority. For this reason, we have incorporated community-oriented facilities such as the community kitchen and a club house. The goal of these is to fortify our community by providing spaces for social gatherings on a regular basis.
The community kitchen for example will provide fresh healthy meals with ingredients locally harvested from the community farms. Whatever cannot be produced directly on-site will be consciously sourced from organic producers. The community kitchen will also have processing facilities for solar dehydration and cold pressing for the production of natural oils.
The community club house will feature a reading room, game room, repair center, and open air theater. Here community members can read through an extensive collection of literature and have a peaceful place to work, be it alone or in collaboration. The open air theater will allow for special events, where community members or invited guests can give presentations, plays, or musical performances.
Integrated Life will be located in a natural and semi-remote location surrounded by forests. These forests will be managed not only for conservation of biodiversity and recreation, but also for sustainably produced forest products. Sustainable forestry practices will be put in place that allow the community to selectively harvest lumber while improving the health of the forest.
Non-forested areas will be focused on agricultural production using state of the art agricultural practices. This involves biointensive gardens, agroforestry, holistic grazing, beekeeping, composting, natural pesticides, and other techniques for food production. In order to maintain a healthy production cycle, all organic waste materials from the community are consciously reused and incorporated into the agro-systems.
Community members will have the opportunity to help in all of the different parts of Integrated Life. Each project will be led by qualified experts and there will be many opportunities to actively learn how the systems work. In fact, every community member will be expected to participate in the important community services one way or another.
Integrated life is a sustainable, eco-friendly community, where consumption integrates with production to reduce carbon footprint. It proposes a new way of living that’s not only healthy for the earth, but also for communities and the individuals involved. It’s a design for the future that brings sustainability to your doorstep.
